The Archaeological Museum of Chania announced its participation with original actions in this year’s celebration of International Museum Day, on Thursday, May 18.
Since 1977, the International Council of Museums (ICOM), in its effort to highlight the role of museums in modern society, has established May 18 as International Museum Day.
This year’s theme “Museums, Sustainability and Quality of Life” aims to highlight the role of contemporary museums in shaping a sustainable future, and focuses on the following themes included in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
Objective 3 | Global health and quality of life
Objective 13 | Action on climate change
Objective 15 | Life on Earth: protecting biodiversity
The Archaeological Museum of Chania, being a place of new experiences, participates in this year’s celebration by offering actions under the theme “Discover wellness in the Museum”, inspired by Goal 3.
Take a breather from the busy everyday life and enjoy a yoga class or a sound therapy session in the Museum’s courtyard, as well as a thematic tour of the permanent exhibition.
Entrance to the Museum’s exhibition areas will be free for the public on Thursday, May 18 from 08:00 to 20:00.
Participation in the activities is free of charge, with reservation required at (6984700663 (weekdays from 10:00 to 14:00)
