The National Hellenic Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” celebrates again this year the International Museum Day on Wednesday, May 18 with free entrance to its Museums by participating in the action of the International Council of Museums 2022 entitled “The power of Museums” with the presentation of the following actions of its work “Digital routes in Crete by Eleftherios Venizelos” (OP Crete 2014-2020).

The project concerns the creation of a single digital network of cultural routes for modern Greek and European history, focusing on the personality of Eleftherios Venizelos and his action in Chania.

Specifically:

House – Eleftherios Venizelos Museum, Halepa: Free entrance 11:00 – 20:00

Presentation of an interactive augmented reality tour 17:00–20:00.

Using his mobile phone or tablet, the visitor navigates the premises of the House–Museum of Eleftherios Venizelos in Halepa in an original experiential journey through time.

In the morning, the educational program will take place: “Once upon a time there was a child who was very old…”, in the 1st grade of the 10th Primary School of Chania and an educational tour in the 5th and 6th grade of the Primary School of Argyroupolis.

Eleftherios Venizelos Birth House, Mournies: Free entrance 10:00 – 15:00

Presentation of the interactive application for Eleftherios Venizelos.

An original interactive game for Venizelos, which presents in chronological order the most important events of his life, combining them with objects and historical evidence from the archive of the Foundation.

Museum – Headquarters of the Revolution 1905, Therissos: Free entrance 11:30 – 17:00

Presentation of the application for the History of Therissos.

The events of the revolution of Therissos, the history of the village and the Cretan tradition are highlighted through a dynamic application, which includes rare archival material and testimonies.
