The Ministry of Education approved the operation of a Film School in Drama by the Hellenic Open University.
The school (undergraduate program of study), which will be interconnected with the International Short Film Festival of Drama, is expected to operate from the spring semester of the academic year 2022-2023. The lessons will take place remotely, but there will also be face-to-face workshops in the city of Drama.
The film studies program of the Hellenic Open University in collaboration with the Short Film Festival of Drama will have two directions: one theoretical and the second creative, depending on the type of thematic units chosen by the students during their studies. The title awarded in each case will be the same as the title of the program, with the subtitle of the chosen direction.
The admission of students will take place in each semester.
Graduates will be able to work in any creative sector of audiovisual productions (Directors, Producers, Screenwriters, Costume Designers, Set Designers, Directors of Photography, Sound Engineers, Film Critics, Editors).
In order to obtain the degree, the successful completion of Thematic Units / Laboratory Thematic Units (30 ECTS per semester), which correspond to 240 ECTS, is required.

Graduates of a secondary school or an equivalent or equivalent secondary education qualification in Greece or abroad are admitted. The knowledge of a foreign language as well as the familiarity with the use of computers, e-mails and internet will help significantly in the monitoring of the program.
This Program is expected to operate from the spring semester of the academic year 2022-2023.
The school will operate remotely (s.s.: Hellenic Open University operates remotely), but “due to the particularity of the subject, face-to-face courses are also needed”.
