The photography exhibition of Nikos Basias, entitled “Medals of Honor”, organized by the Municipality of Platanias, was successfully completed at the Multicenter of Voukolies, as part of its actions for the 200 years since the Revolution of 1821.

Dozens were the visitors of the exhibition, while it remained open to the public, among them students from many schools of the Regional Unit of Chania, who toured its premises and met emblematic figures of the Greek Revolution through the different approach of photographer Nikos Basias.

The exhibition was co-organized with the Regional Unit of Chania and was under the auspices of the “Greece 2021” Committee and participated in the “HANIART 2021” program.

It was curated by the Doctor of Art History Konstantinos V. Proimos and the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chania – Eleourgeion Ioannis N. Archontakis.

It was accompanied by a bilingual colour catalogue (Greek, English) in which the participating works are presented along with documentation texts, analyses and comments of the artist and the curators, as well as welcome remarks by the deputy regional governor of Chania, Nikos Kalogeris and the mayor of Platanias, Giannis Malandrakis.

The Multicenter in Voukolies was the first stop of the exhibition “Medals of Honor” as discussions are underway with cultural institutions that wish to host it.

Throughout the duration of the exhibition, all the measures in force for the protection of public health were observed, in accordance with the current health protocol.
